Winter number one

12 07 2011

So we’re into our first ever Kiwi winter. Sounds so odd saying that July and August have the worst weather. After 35 northern hemisphere winters, that just seems wrong.

If they’d had much snow at Ruapehu, we would have possibly been boarding already. Now that would be even weirder!

But if this is what you got NZ, bring it on! The weather, in winter terms, has been great. Yes there’ve been a few howling Southerlies, but amidst those days, there are truly beautiful days where you can enjoy a coffee an brunch by the beach. Walk along the harbourfront. Enjoy the outdoors.

Heck it’s even still fine enough to motorbike to work!

To illustrate this, here’s a photo from Sunday 10 July taken from Karaka Bay, looking over the harbour entrance.

Winter anyone?
